In 1997, Home Places: 5 Photographs by Eudora Welty was issued, the first limited-edition set of black-and-white prints in a planned series from the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. Of the original five prints, only numbers four and five are still available for purchase. They are entitled “Girl Dancing, Jackson” and “Going to town, Utica,” respectively. The photographs are printed on 11" x 14" sheets of silver paper, toned, and unmounted. They sell individually for $100, plus applicable tax and shipping.
Moser Prints of Welty
In 2003, the department unveiled the first in a series of five woodcut prints of Welty by her longtime friend and collaborator Barry Moser, a National Book Award-winning illustrator. The print series shows Welty at various ages.
- Print #1, Eudora Welty, c. 1990, measures 4" x 7" on a 9.5" x 12.5" sheet
- Print #2, Eudora Welty, c. 1980, measures 5.5” x 6.25” on a 9.5” x 12.5” sheet
- Print #3, Eudora Welty, c. 1930 measures 5” x 7” on an 8.5” x 11” sheet
All are printed on acid-free paper. The fourth and fifth prints in the series are forthcoming. Each print is $250 plus applicable tax and shipping.
Each original relief engraving is in a limited edition of 100 and has been signed and numbered by the artist. Moser is generously donating the prints to the department to raise money to help support the Eudora Welty House.
