• Saturday, May 19, 1-2 p.m. at Winterville Mounds. Speaker Series 2012.  Soil survey project leader Rachael Stout Evans will present “Soil: Not Just the Dirt Around the Artifact.” Admission is free and refreshments will be served. For more information call 662-334-4684.

• Wednesday, June 13, 10 a.m.–noon at Winterville Mounds.  Summer Fun Days: Drum Making.  Children up to 12 years old are invited to learn drum making.  Registration is required. Admission is free. For more information or to register call 662-334-4684.

• Saturday, July 21, 1:00 p.m. at Winterville Mounds.  Music of the Delta, Winterville Mounds director Mark Howell will examine the different kinds of music heard in the Delta from Prehistoric times to the present using recorded audio samples and playing musical instruments. A musical performance will follow. The talk is for young and old, and families are welcome. For more information call 662-334-4684.

• Wednesday-Friday, October 31- November 2, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. at Winterville Mounds.  Native American Days 2012.  Meet Native American members of the Choctaw, Seminole, Cherokee, and Houma Nation and experience traditional music, dance, and storytelling. Activities will include Native American arts and crafts, games, food, and primitive weapon.  Project S.O.A.R. (Save Our American Raptors), the USDA Wildlife, and the Southern Traditional Archery Association will also be present.  Admission is free, but donations are accepted.
