  • Wednesday, June 13, noon–1 p.m. at the Old Capitol Museum. As part of the History Is Lunch series, historian and MDAH Historic Properties Division director Jim Barnett talks about his new book in the Heritage of Mississippi Series, Mississippi’s American Indians, and signs copies.   • Thursday, June 28, 5–8 p.m. at the Old Capitol Museum. Red, White and Jackson. In conjunction with Fourth of July festivities sponsored by the Jackson Chamber of Commerce, the Old Capitol Museum will stay open until 8 pm and offer free activities for children such as crafts and a scavenger hunt.   • July 10–October 7 at the Old Capitol Museum. Pieces of the Past: Mississippi’s Chief Executive. Rotating exhibit features artifacts relating to former governors of Mississippi. For more information call 601-576-6920 or email Old Capitol.

  • July 16–20, 8:30 a.m.–noon at the Old Capitol Museum. Mississippi Places and Faces. From mounds to modern Mississippi, rising 4th, 5th, and 6th graders will discover what made Mississippi the wonderful and diverse place it has become. Camp activities will include hands-on artifacts, crafts, tours, and more at the Old Capitol Museum, Governor’s Mansion, Eudora Welty House, and State Capitol. Registration fee is $50.
