The James T. Dawson Award will be awarded as merited to a local government entity for its outstanding records management program.

The James T. Dawson Award was established by the Mississippi Historical Society to memorialize Dawson, who spearheaded the establishment of the Lauderdale County Department of Archives and History and played an integral role in the creation of a records management program for Lauderdale County.

Submit nominations and supporting materials by December 1, 2014, to Awards Committee, Mississippi Historical Society, P. O. Box 571, Jackson, MS  39205-0571. The physical address is the William F. Winter Archives and History Building, 200 North Street, Jackson, MS  39201. If merited, the award will be presented at the annual meeting of the Mississippi Historical Society, which will be held March 5-7, 2015, in Corinth.
