Mississippi Archaeology Expo
Saturday, October 18, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. at the Old Capitol Museum.
Celebrate Mississippi Archaeology Month with demonstrations of archaeological techniques and other fun and educational activities including flintknapping, a “live” Civil War camp, and artifact displays. The Expo is a day-long special event featuring educational and fun activities for all ages, such as demonstrations of archaeological techniques as well as prehistoric and historic lifeways.
The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians will demonstrate Native American traditional dancing, basket weaving, storytelling, stickball, and crafts. Other highlights include face painting, bracelet making, pendant coloring, ceramic making, and atlatl throwing.
This program is financially assisted by the National Endowment for the Humanities through the Mississippi Humanities Council.
