Browse Records

The browse function presents all digitized images for viewing. The images are arranged in numerical order. Conduct a keyword search to retrieve groups of images with the same subject matter.

  • To use the browse query function click Browse Collection. A thumbnail listing of all the images in the collection will be retrieved.
  • Click on a thumbnail to select its image.
  • Only one image may be selected at a time.
  • The corresponding image will now be retrieved and will be displayed in the Image View Screen with descriptive metadata.
  • Some browsers allow you to click on the image to zoom in and out.
  • Click "Collection Overview" to conduct another search.
  • Click "Help" to return to these instructions.

Keyword Search

Each image was assigned descriptive information, based on clues in the photographs. A keyword search is available for this descriptive information.

  • Type keywords in the "search for keyword" box.
  • A thumbnail listing of all images associated with those keywords will be retrieved.
  • Click on a thumbnail to select its image.
  • Only one image may be selected at a time.
  • The corresponding image will now be retrieved and will be displayed in the Image View Screen with descriptive metadata.
  • Some browsers allow you to click on the image to zoom in and out.
  • Click "Collection Overview" to conduct another search

Image Screen

Once you have selected an image from the thumbnail listing produced by either the Browse or Keyword search functions the system will retrieve the image. The image is displayed with some or all of the following metadata.

  • Item no.
  • Collection title
  • Creator
  • Contextual information
  • To return to the thumbnail results listing and select another image click your browser's Back button.
  • To view the next or previous images in the collection click the "next" or "previous" links.
  • To print the image and supplied metadata use the Print function of your browser.
  • To conduct a new search click the "Collection Overview" link.
  • Click the "Help" link to return to these instructions.
