"Friendship Oak, Member: Live Oak Society, circumference 14 ft. 7 in. Located at Gulf Park College, in Harrison County, this venerable oak stretches it outspread arms, offering a welcome shade for the passing generations. It is said that in days gone by, Vachel Lindsay, the poet, held class on the spacious platform shown built upon it lower branches, class day exercises are also held on this platform that has been made to accomodate 26 persons."
