There is, perhaps, no other tree belonging to the Live Oak Society that has the glamourous background of the ancient tree pictured above. Located at Biloxi, Indian legends tell of a young man who sought the hand of the daughter of a tribal chief of the Biloxis, who declared he would not give his consent unless given a sign by the Great God. There came a storm and a bolt of lightning struck the tree forming a ring in one of its branches. The chief greatly impressed, gave his consent to the marriageā€¦."
