Image Arrangement and Numbering

The photographs were arranged geographically, north to south, in a binder when donated to MDAH in 1992. The Image and Sound curator removed the photographs from the binder and sleeved and numbered them, following the original arrangement. The "Browse Collection" option displays the scans of the photographs in their original order.

Technical Details

Original Scans: The original scans of the Mississippi River Flood of 1927 Collection were made February and March 2008, according to the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Board of Trustees' approved imaging procedures, following ANSI/AIIM recommended practice. The images were scanned as uncompressed, 24-bit RGB TIFFs at 600 pixels per inch.

Conversion: For Web display, the original scans of the Mississippi River Flood of 1927 Collection were converted to 600 ppi, 24-bit RGB JPEG images in March 2008.

Suggested Bibliographic Citation

MDAH suggests that citations for images from the Web-enabled version of the Mississippi River Flood of 1927 Collection include the following elements: collection name, unique image no., agency name, date of last Web page revision, (date viewed).

Rights Management

There are no known restrictions on use of images within the Mississippi River Flood of 1927 Collection. MDAH asks that each image used in a presentation, display, or publication be accompanied by the following credit statement:

Copy Availability

High-resolution TIFFs of the images may be purchased from MDAH. The MDAH Public Order procedure and fee schedule apply.
