Browse Records

The browse function presents thumbnails of all digital images for viewing. The images are arranged in album page order.

  • To use the browse query function click Browse Collection. A thumbnail listing of all the images in the collection will be retrieved.
  • Click on a thumbnail to select its image.
  • Only one image may be selected at a time.
  • The corresponding image will be displayed in the Image View Screen with descriptive metadata. Flash Player version 6 or later is required to view the Zoomify interface for the images.
  • The Zoomify tools at the bottom of the image screen allow you to zoom in and out of the image and pan left and right.

Keyword Search

Each image was assigned descriptive information, based on clues on the album's pages and on the photographs themselves, including names of subjects. A keyword search is available for this descriptive information.

  • Type keywords in the "search for keyword" box.
  • A thumbnail listing of all images associated with those keywords will be retrieved.
  • Click on a thumbnail to select its image.
  • Only one image may be selected at a time.
  • The corresponding image will be displayed in the Image View Screen with descriptive metadata. Flash Player version 6 or later is required to view the Zoomify interface for the images.

Image Screen

Once you have selected an image from the thumbnail listing produced by either the Browse or Keyword search functions the system will retrieve the image. The image is displayed with some or all of the following metadata.

  • Collection title
  • Collection call number
  • Image description

In addition to the metadata the image-view screen also includes navigation functions.

  • To return to the thumbnail results listing and select another image click your browser's Back button.
  • To view the next or previous images in the collection click the "Next" or "Previous" links.
  • To print the image and supplied metadata use the print function of your browser.
  • To return to the first page of the exhibit and conduct a new search click the "Lochinvar Photograph Album" header link.
  • Click the "Help" link to return to these instructions.
