In anticipation of Mississippi’s Bicentennial in 2017, the 2 Mississippi Museums project is pleased to promote the work under way on two flagship institutions honoring the state’s history — the Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. The Mississippi Department of Archives and History is working with architects, designers, scholars, and community advisors to plan the buildings and exhibits. Both museums will open during the bicentennial year. Follow the exciting progress and learn how you can help.
The 2 Mississippi Museums will break ground Thursday, October 24. Musicians from across the state will perform from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and children’s activities will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s a day to celebrate Mississippi’s many stories. We hope you can join us.
